JakJazz Festival 2012

I think music in itself is healing. It’s an explosive expression of humanity.

It’s something we are all touched by.

No matter what culture we’re from, everyone loves music.

— Billy Joel

Jakarta International Jazz Festival 2012 has long over for months now. Held in Istora Senayan Jakarta on October 19, 20 and 21, some said it was a success. For some it was just another jazz performance for some reasons.

As for me, it was a resurrection – being so long in quite-slow mode musically. As I smiled and sang and moved my body to the music as I first hit the stage area where Chaseiro was playing, I realized something inside me just burst – yes, you know it, you feel that too, right? I am not an adrenalin junkie, at least not yet. Or I just forget what it feels like. Yet, I know it’s still there. And it’s rising. This Jakjazz has done something to me. Resurrection.

So, these are some photos of the event, taken on day 2, October 20, 2012.
Enjoy! (Note: I’m encouraging myself to be generous, so if you’d like to have or copy these photos, just be kind as well to mention this site or my twitter noted in the corner of each photos ;D )

So, this was the most expressive and inspiring performance (at least for me) for the night show. Look at that collaboration between Benny and Barry. This father and son’s performance is bound by the same spirit called music. Indeed, it travels through time and beyond limit.

The artists in these photos are just some of many who join the project.

Ah, too bad, I went out before Tompi got in.

Again, music never fail on age…

Art itself, indeed, is always fascinating.

That’s it! I’ll see you and We’ll dance in the next JakJazz…
